RooT Visuals, aka Eric Bales, is a vivacious visual jockey. He possesses dynamism and flare for selecting and syncing visual sequences that complement DJs track and music selection. He has a sharp intellect and a talented mind with a healthy perspective on his direction through life.

Eric originally started his journey towards visual jockeying by learning to DJ in early 2020. From his years in high school, he had a desire to mix music. In his words, “That’s cool to do.” When he started getting into music events and festivals as a spectator, those early morning hours when the entertainment had ended, and his energy was still pumping, provided the impetus for learning how to spin tracks. Around that same time, a friend introduced him to the industry standard software used by VJs across the globe, Resolume. It was a lot to take in all at once. Eric parsed his time effectively, learning how to DJ first, then moved on to sling pixels in the VJ business in the latter portion of 2021.

Learning how to DJ first encouraged Eric’s evolution towards becoming a VJ. Both professions observe timing, and when you have a feel for the music, it makes counting measures feel almost natural. “I’m really fortunate I chose this route. I had never really paid attention to music how DJs, producers, and musicians do. I never counted music before. Now, I can be standing behind my VJ station, having a conversation, I hear the music and know it’s about to drop. Hit the strobes.” As they say, timing is everything.

One of the many things that supports RooT Visuals professional success is his technical aptitude. “I’ve always been a computer nerd… that always helped me when it comes to understanding different technical aspects of the field and making them work correctly.” That checks out. Computers are a mainstay in the electronic kingdom, and having an understanding for how they work is infinitely helpful when problems arise. Also, his organization. He’s put together a road case containing all the pieces of technology and attachments he knows he needs to put on one helluva visual performance.

Eric has been lending his services to Suburban Sound Syndicate since the second Syndicate Sound Session held on October 23, 2023. He’s a reoccurring supporter thanks to his professionalism, affable demeanor, and knowledge concerning all the various aspects of coordinating top-tier visual aesthetics that excite. He’s capable, resolute, and always brings his A-game to events alongside a flight deck that doubles as a control center from which his visual artistry flows forth.

RooT Visuals sees himself jockeying visuals far into the future. “I would like to have this as what I retire and do.” He’s taking care of that vision by networking and sharing his skills.
